Brooklyn-based indsutrial rock duo Yvette are bringing energy and grit back to the New York indie scene. Their track “Erosion,” off their self titled EP is a menacing assault of heavy drums and distorted guitars. The group’s real talent, however, lies in their ability to weave great melodies into what could otherwise be a daunting musical affair.
“Erosion” is a masterful exercise in tension and release. Distorted guitars squall back and forth over an insistent beat. Abstract vocal float in and out of the mix. The track builds and settles, giving a rhythm to the song’s structure. It is a strong performance for a group that only has an EP to their name.
Yvette’s unique style makes them an exciting new addition to the Brooklyn music scene, it will be interesting to see what they have in store for the future.
