“Leavin’s hard… trust me, it’s really bad,” croons Houston, Texas country singer Sunny Sweeney on her new single “Staying’s Worse Than Leaving.” And of course, anyone who’s been there knows exactly what she’s talking about. But then again, believe it or not, it’s not the worst choice you can make.
“Staying’s Worse Than Leaving” is the second single off Sweeney’s upcoming release Concrete, her second album to date. The album is due in August, but the song is already making headway and gaining this sweet-voiced newcomer (who was also once a budding improv comedian) some well-deserved attention. Think the sentiments of Emmylou Harris crossed with the spirit of Trisha Yearwood or Pam Tillis, and then boosted with a high energy production that is all about the 21st century.
