[mp3com-artist]Phenomenal Handclap Band[/mp3com-artist] are back with a new album, Form And Control, and a new sleek new single, "Following." Formed in 2008 by DJ/producers Daniel Collas and Sean Marquand, Phenomenal Handclap Band went bigtime the following year when their first single, "15 to 20," became a worldwide dance floor hit. Now expanded to a four man/two woman collective, PHB are preparing for an even busier 2012 with the release of their new set on Tummy Touch called Form And Control. Produced by legendary svengali Mike Chapman (whose work dates back to the beginnings of [mp3com-artist]Blondie[/mp3com-artist]), Form And Control mashes up influences ranging from [mp3com-artist]Curtis Mayfield[/mp3com-artist] and [mp3com-artist]Fleetwood Mac[/mp3com-artist] to [mp3com-artist]MGMT[/mp3com-artist], the [mp3com-artist]Human League[/mp3com-artist] and [mp3com-artist]Deee- Lite[/mp3com-artist]. The result is a cosmic convergence 70's West Coast rock, world beat psychedelia and work-the-wheels New York disco. From that record we have today's Free Mp3 of the Day, "Following," a tune that points to all the aforementioned influences but still has a delightful freshness that says "dance floor, here we come." If we were adept beat-mixers, we'd figure out a way to mix this between Deee-Lite's "Groove Is In The Heart" and [mp3com-artist]Steve Miller[/mp3com-artist]'s "Jet Airliner," just to prove it can be done.
