“The duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen [have] transformed the fuzzy distortion, rolling and crashing drums and laser-focused purposefulness [of their live shows] into an intensely dynamic yet supremely polished album.”
That’s what their label, Jagjaguawar, says about Garden of Arms, the second album released by Pisano and Moen under their name Peter Wolf Crier.
The pair appear to be purposedly opaque about the usual personal detritus most bands like to publish, opting instead for their verbiage to be built aroound descriptions of their music.
Our favorite description of them is as “a wheel, rusted with unrestrained hope.” That’s the impression we get from today’s Free MP3 of the Day, “Settling It Off.” Workmanlike in its rhythm and hopeful in its lyrics, there’s rebellion in their voices but reverence in their tone. Marvelous music for the world as we watch it roll by.
