With one finger on the pulse of modern rock, while remaining true to his Sly and the Family Stone and Beck roots, Little Shalimar‘s sound is tight, well-produced and uptempo, yet bluesy, thick and rockin’. Add Killer Mike to the mix, and it’s well a killer hip-hop track!
After years of rattling around at art-rock shows and working alongside acts like El-P, Antibalas, Elvis Costello as well as sharing the decks with the likes of Peanut Butter Wolf, Eli Escobar, DJ Spinna to Theo Parrish, Little Shalimar has honed his chops to a diamond-tipped point.
Born Torbitt Schwartz, the Brooklyn-based DJ/Producer/multi-instrumentalist flocked to Los Angeles to work on a project with Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio. Shortly after his visit, Shwartz suffered from severe pneumonia leaving him “bed-ridden and heavily sedated with codeine cough syrup and pot cookies.” With that being said, he wrote music that would become his debut solo EP, The New Pneumonia Blues. The result? It’s sick (no pun intended)!
