Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick and his six-piece supporting cast the Tantrums are bringing the Motown sound back in a big way with their debut album Pickin’ Up The Pieces. Today we’re bringing you an MP3.com first, a Last.fm Discover Studio live recording of Fitz & the Tantrum‘s soulful rocker, “MoneyGrabber.”
Fitzpatrick claims he was inspired to start the band when, on a whim, he bought an old church organ. That night, he found himself completely enthralled by the instrument’s sound and wound up writing the song “Breaking The Chains of Love,” which became the first track on album. “Sometimes, the Music Gods just give it to you,” Fitz says.
Back in February, Fitz & the Tantrums stopped by Last.fm Discover Studios to record a live session performance featuring a few highlights off of Pickin’ Up The Pieces. Check out this video where Fitz talks about the recording process for the song “MoneyGrabber” and then joins the Tantrums for an awesome performance of the song. After that grab a free download of the live track below!
