Both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato are American singers, signed as separate artists to Hollywood Records, alongside artists like Miley Cyrus. They are also signed to UK label Fascination and Japanese label Avex Trax, Lovato as a solo artist and Gomez as both part of her band, Selena Gomez & The Scene and a solo artist. Each cite Paramore as one of their biggest influences. Both of them were born in Texas in 1992, Lovato in Dallas on 20th August, Gomez in Grand Prairie on July 22nd. Both Lovato & Gomez are of Mexican and Italian descent, with Lovato also being of Irish descent. Lovato was born Demetria Devonne Lovato, Gomez born Selena Marie Gomez. The pair are both actresses as well as singers, working mostly for Disney, with Lovato starring in movies such as Camp Rock playing Mitchie Torres and TV shows such as Sonny With A Chance, in the lead role of Allison 'Sonny' Munroe, and Gomez starring in the straight-to-DVD movie Another Cinderella Story, portraying Mary Santiago and the Disney sitcom Wizards Of Waverley Place as Alex Russo and having several cameos as Mikayla in the second series of Hannah Montana and appearing in one episode of Sonny With A Chance alongside Lovato, with Gomez playing herself. As children they both appeared together as recurring characters in the Barney & Friends, Lovato as Angela and Gomez as Gianna from 2002-03. Lovato has also branched out into more serious drama shows, appearing in an episode or Prison Break in 2006 as Danielle Curtin and in an episode of Grey's Anatomy as one of the patients, Hayley in 2010. The only films not made exclusivley for TV to have featured Gomez to date are Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, in which she had a minor role in 2003, and voiceovers in 2008's Horton Hears A Who! and 2009's Arthur and the Vengeance of Maltazard, voicing a character originally intended for Madonna, who had voiced the character in the first installment, with Gomez taking over for the second and proposed third installments. Gomez is also set to feature in the yet-to-be released films Ramona and Beezus, due for release in 2010 and Monte Carlo, due for release in 2011, with Gomez's band recording a song, Live Like There's No Tomorrow for the soundtrack of the former. To date, the two have only starred in one film together, Princess Protection Program, a Disney Chanel Original movie, Lovato as Princess Rosalinda Maria (who has other aliases in the movie), and Gomez playing Carter Mason, whose father is responsible for protecting Lovato's character in the movie. Within this movie, Lovato & Gomez sing a duet, One & The Same, a song which tells of the similarities of the personality of the two, despite the differences in culture, upbringing, wealth and privileges. This is the only official duet of Lovato & Gomez, however the pair do sing together on the charity single Send It On, with Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus also contributing vocals, the single released with the collective artist name for the four artists written as Disney Friends For Change. The pair used to frequently post vlogs online, uploading videos of both of them sitting together and talking to a webcam about various subjects, some of which had been put to them by their fans.
