The Calico Bonnets are a country band all the way from Germany. To be exact they are from the southwest. Well, southwest of Germany. They're doing some honky tonk music, some swingin' folk rock, some ballads, some real down to the bone country. Part of the program are classic genre songs but the Calico Bonnets (named after a Gram Parsons line) do also lesser known country songs - and own material like "Accidentally" or "Lookin' Backwards", to name only these two. They use to play in clubs and bars around their hometown of Karlsruhe.
"Loserville" was written by Mister Al Perry out of Tucson/Arizona. The Calico Bonnets are proud to present this song on their not-for-sale-CD "I Can See Your Horse From Here".
"Big Mistake" is as well a song taken off that CD, written by Jeb Loy Nichols of Fellow Travelers fame. Both of the writers agreed to publish the CB-renditions of their compositions on last.fm.
Playing songs like "Grievous Angel", Merle's "Big City" or Mark Stuart's "Austin Night" as well as "The Race is On", " Hey Good Lookin'" or "Tiger By The Tail", the Calico Bonnets are something like "New Alternative Country & Western Folk Rock Swing". Up to three voices, fiddle, mandolin, guitars, harmonica - diversification is always a part of the show. They are "permanently on tour"!
