American rock band The Killers are set to release a compilation of their greatest hits, titled Direct Hits, and it’s due out Tuesday, November 11th. The band has been doing press to promote the upcoming collection, featuring their biggest songs like “Mr. Brightside” and “When You Were Young”, and their latest interview with The Sun is causing some controversy.

Breaking in the UK first was great because America is retarded musically,” stated the band’s frontman, Brandon Flowers. “It’s upside down. There’s so much great music that doesn’t get the attention. There’s a lot of bulls**t on US radio.” It’s clear The Killers are not happy about the current state of pop music in North America, but using such an outdated term to describe it is definitely a bad idea in today’s world.

Flowers continues to explain himself in the interview: “I start to wonder, what do adults listen to? Do they listen to what’s being played on the radio? You should listen to something that’s for you — not about giving your virginity to your boyfriend on Saturday night. It is retarded. Every song is that song. And if 40-year-olds are listening to that rubbish, they’re going to raise kids on it. It’s not even music.

There’s been no heavy backlash on Flowers’ words as of yet, but expect to see some sort of apology from the singer in the upcoming weeks.
