Taylor Swift has recorded a new song for the British Film One Chance, and it was officially released on iTunes today. The song isn’t considered material for her follow-up to Red, but at least Swift fans have some fresh material for the country-pop crossover star. Entitled “Sweeter Than Fiction”, the upbeat tune was co-written by fun.’s Jack Antonoff, who is becoming a prolific songwriter in the pop world: he’s also helped write songs like “How Come You Don’t Want Me” by Tegan and Sara and “Brave” by Sara Bareilles.
As for the sound of Taylor’s new track, it’s a piece of 80’s power-pop perfection, but has absolutely no country influences whatsoever, making this Taylor’s first true pop crossover song. The lyrics are all about seeing the potential in somebody who isn’t sure of themselves, which is the theme behind the film the song was written for.

Taylor’s been working on new tunes for her fifth studio album over the past six months, and fans are still not sure what to expect from the superstar. If she continues to make pure pop songs like “Sweeter Than Fiction”, Swift will no longer be bound to her country roots.
