Billed as a “two-day celebration of music and optimism,” the Life is Good Festival marries an impressive line-up of rock and alt-country acts with goodwill hospitality and fundraising. Taking place in Canton, MA, during the weekend of September 24th, the Life is Good Festival will feature three stages, interactive arts activities, and games and activities for families of all ages. 100% of the festival’s profits will go towards the Life Is Good Playmakers, and organization that helps kids overcome life-threatening challenges such as violence, illness, and extreme poverty.
Today we’re highlighting a few of the bands that will perform at Life Is Good (only two weekends away!). Ingrid Michaelson hits the stage at 6:15pm on Saturday with a set guaranteed to be perfect for a New England sunset. Check out her latest video for the single “Parachute” below:
For anyone who has yet to hear the soul-revivalist, multi-talented extraordinaire Raphael Saadiq, I pity your music collection. Few artists in this decade or the last have blossomed such a fully realized retro sound without the negativity that usually accompanies musical pastiche. Save your cries of “hipster!” for those artists who engage classic pop with a lesser resume; Raphael is the real deal, and his live performances are notoriously fun.
Another favorite artist of ours – we probably have too many – is Zee Avi, a petite Malaysian with a delicate voice and incredible YouTube fan base. She visited the Street Date studio a few weeks back, performed a number of songs and spoke about them in a short interview. Watch her sing a stripped version of “Swell Window” below, and click here for the full interview and two more performances.
