Looking for some new music to get you through the end of of the week? RCRD LBL Essentials Volume 7 has got you covered! Check out new tracks from artists like Black Star, Diamond Rings, Class Actress, and many others! [mp3com-artist]Black Star[/mp3com-artist], the much celebrated collaboration project between [mp3com-artist]Mos Def[/mp3com-artist] and [mp3com-artist]Talib Kweli[/mp3com-artist], is already a supergroup. With the addition of producer [mp3com-artist]Oh No[/mp3com-artist], brother and Stonesthrow labelmate to[mp3com-artist]Madlib[/mp3com-artist], for new single "You Already Knew" [mp3com-artist]Black Star[/mp3com-artist] reaches epic proportions of hip-hop pedigree.  The track does not disappoint though.  [mp3com-artist]Oh No[/mp3com-artist]'s lush, soul samples create an emotionally evocative backdrop for Mos and Talib to do their thing on. The new track is a godsend for fans of [mp3com-artist]Black Star[/mp3com-artist]'s seminal debut (and only) self-titled album. Released in 1998 it brought old-school hip hop back to the forefront of the scene. In the face of the sparse, jazzy rhythms and Mos and Talib's slick, cerebral wordplay, everything else looked pretty pedestrian. It's been over a decade since the last proper [mp3com-artist]Black Star[/mp3com-artist] album, it's exciting to see a follow up on the horizon. Diamond Rings does an excellent job of covering Teenage Fanclub's track "Mellow Doubt." The Toronto based artist hits all the right notes, matching a catchy piano melody with drum machine hand claps. His smooth vocals match the song's title perfectly riding the line between mellow and melancholy. Another standout from this week's Essentials Playlist is Class Actress' remix of "An Old Photo of Your New Lover." An upbeat synth-pop gem, the track ruminates on relationships present and past.   [rcrd-lbl]http://rcrdlbl.com/widgets2.0/core/?m=show_widget&w=essentials120811[/rcrd-lbl]
