The RCRD LBL Essentials series turns 20 today! To celebrate this milestone, we're bringing you a playlist stacked with our favorite artists! [rcrd-lbl]http://rcrdlbl.com/widgets2.0/core/?m=show_widget&w=essentials032212[/rcrd-lbl] [mp3com-artist]Holy Ghost[/mp3com-artist] gets things kicked off to a lively start with their electro-disco remix of [mp3com-artist]Midnight Magic[/mp3com-artist]'s "Drop Me a Line." Chanteuse Tiffany Roth's vocals are big and bright and the bassline bounces along to the synth melody. Next up is an all-star collaboration with [mp3com-artist]Twin Shadow[/mp3com-artist] remixing [mp3com-artist]Neon Indian[/mp3com-artist]'s "Hey Girlfriend." [mp3com-artist]Twin Shadow[/mp3com-artist] gives the track a dark, psychedelic vibe with heavy drumming and reverb. Alan Palomo's catchy vocals keep things balanced though, giving the track a tension filled atmosphere. [mp3com-artist]Woods[/mp3com-artist] chills things out a bit with their laid back, pastoral pop song "Wind Was the Wine." They keep things interesting with some cool production effects (the guitar solo is quite cool), elevating the track above a simple acoustic strummer. [mp3com-artist]Chantal Claret[/mp3com-artist]'s "Bite Your Toungue" is a sassy affair. A strutting bassline and forceful brass section match Claret's attitude perfectly. [mp3com-artist]Fidlar[/mp3com-artist] win the award for best album art on this playlist. The hand-drawn image of the surfing grim reaper illustrates their sound perfectly. Fuzzy beach rock with a strong dose of irreverence "New France" is another all-star collaboration, with a cross-generation effort coming from [mp3com-artist]Orbital[/mp3com-artist] and [mp3com-artist]L-Vis 1990[/mp3com-artist]. [mp3com-artist]Orbital[/mp3com-artist] were one of the biggest names in the 90's U.K. dance scene and are now getting back into the game with their first album in eight years. L-Vis 1990, on the other hand, is one of the hottest names in the contemporary U.K. dance scene. One of the founders of the impeccable Night Slugs label and a stellar producer in his own right, L-Vis 1990 gives the old masters a little lesson in how the kids are getting down today. On top of all of that, you have Zola Jesus, one of the more dynamic singers out there now, contributing vocals to the track! [mp3com-artist]Dive[/mp3com-artist] wrap things up with their tight indie rock song "Geist." Things get a bit hazy with the reverb laden vocals, but a catchy, quick pace guitar melody and uptempo drum beat keep things moving along nicely. Looking for more free music?
