For our tenth installment of RCRD LBL Essential Playlist we bring you a special selection of songs from Cold War Kids, Mayer Hawthorne, The Limosines and more!

Cold War Kids start things off with “Where Would We Be Without Christmas.” Though this song may appear to be a tad bit belated (Christmas was so two weeks ago), it’s really just another great Cold War Kids rock song.

Mayer Hawthorne‘s EP of cover songs, Impressions, was a fantastic compilation of him performing a bunch of the songs that inspired him to become a singer. His version of the The Festivals‘ “You Got The Makings Of A Lover” is right on point, and the Pillowtalk remix ups the tempo just enough to give it some extra  pep.

Continuing the “covers” theme is The Limosines doing a slick electro-pop rework of Paul Simon‘s “Call Me Al.” A great song off of Simon’s seminal album Graceland, in the hands of The Limosines “Call Me Al” gets jazzed up with some extra synths and a dancefloor ready beat.

The rest of the Essentials Playlist is rounded out by some great tracks from the likes of Active Child, Far East Movement, Anthony Green and Rochelle Jordan. So what are you waiting for? Get in there and start listening!
