Have you Shazaam’d the song “Am I Wrong” by Nico & Vinz yet? Apparently, it’s the most-Shazaamed song ever, and ever since the track dropped in April 2013, it’s slowly but surely creeped up the charts. Currently sitting at no.4 on the Billboard Hot 100, the duo sat down with MTV News to discuss the meaning behind their monstrous hit.
Originally from Africa, but raised in Norway, Nico & Vinz were always dreaming big of making it in the music industry. “When you are from such a small country, people will tell you or society will tell you that it’s not realistic,” they said of their pop star goals. With the chorus of the track going So am I wrong for thinking that we could be something for real?/ Now am I wrong for trying to reach the things that I can’t see? in its lyrics, it’s clear their struggle to be heard influenced the popular song.
“We sat down in the studio and we said we don’t care what people say, we are gonna follow our gut feeling, we’re gonna do what we want to do and believe in ourselves,” Nico & Vinz admitted to MTV. We sense big things for the pair of pop dreamers in the next year!
