It’s been four long years since work on Mariah Carey’s fourteenth studio album began, but The Art Of Letting Go finally has a release date: May 6th, 2014. Mariah’s production team began work on the record in the summer of 2010, but with the birth of her twins and her judge spot on American Idol happening shortly afterwards, her new music was constantly put on hold.

However, singles from TAOLG have been coming out ever since last year, and they’ve all been positively received. Mariah’s duet with Miguel, the happy-go-lucky “#Beautiful”, was a successful single, and now the pop diva has released “You’re Mine (Eternal)” just in time for Valentine’s Day. With producers on board like Jermaine Dupri, The-Dream, and Mike Will Made It, MC’s new record should be a perfect balance of ballads and R&B bangers, respectfully.

Ironically enough, former American Idol judge Nicki Minaj will also release her new album on May 6th. Could another rivalry be in the works?
