Elements of My Morning Jacket‘s most frenetic moments merge with the National‘s melancholy yet anthemic choruses about love, and paranoia as well as contain hints of Band of Horses alt-country stylings. The result? It all collides into this brilliant synergy from one song to the next.
Recorded in Burlington, VT, Bitter Blood was produced by Scott Tournet of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. And, despite the images that may conjure from its title, the album is a beautiful record filled with lilting melodies. The band best describes it as; “stained with the influence of whiskey-fueled bonfires, harsh winters, and the women that seem to run perpendicular to their lives.” We like that! And, we’re betting Matt Berninger of The National will too.
