Brilliant at shaking up depressed dancefloors as three-fifths of the indie-synth outfit The Faint, Clark Baechle, Todd Fink, and Jacob Thiele make a different type of noise under a new project called Depressed Buttons. It’s unapologetically dirty — even heady in spots — and most certainly geared for beat lovers who just want to dance.
Signed on Diplo‘s Mad Decent label (that alone should say something about what you’re about to hear), the new four-track EP from Depressed Buttons delves into futuristic dance environments where elements of ghetto-tech, baile-funk, and kitchy techno, collide and bounce. If old school ghetto-house DJ Funk was commissioned to make a G-rated club track that could very well gain midnight radio play, it would sound like Depressed Buttons. Ooooo-wee, that’s funky!
