As one of America’s most recognized songwriters, Bruce Springsteen has a handful of famous hits to his name. The lyrics from “Born To Run,” one of The Boss’s most respected songs, are considered a classic to many music fans, so it’s no surprise that the auctioning of his handwritten lyrics draft is making headlines. Expected to fetch up to $100,000 for the lyrics sheet, this is one of music’s biggest auctions to date.

It is being said that the lyrics were being held by Springsteen’s management, and they are especially unique because they document The Boss’s brainstorming. The lyrics read out like this: “This town’ll rip the (out your) bones from yourback / it’s a suicide trap (rap) (it’s a trap to catch theyoung) your dead unless / you get out (we gotto) while your young so (come on! / with) take myhand cause tramps / like us baby we were born to run.

December 5th marks the day that the lyrics hand-penned by Springsteen himself go up for auction, according to auctioneer company Sotheby’s.
