Time, it is said, heals all wounds. Unless, that is, you’re Brandy, and you’re apparently still carrying a grudge dating back to the Clinton Administration against Monica, in which case: nah.

During a performance at Essence Festival 2018 in New Orleans, Brandy, now a venerable 39, changed up the lyrics in her and Monica’s 1998 Grammy-winning, blockbuster hit, “The Boy Is Mine,” and sang, “The song is mine.”

Just some playful, harmless stage banter? Why, of course, we would argue. Usually.

But there’s nothing usual about Brandy’s and Monica’s pop friendship. Or should we say: Frenemyship.
