Pop-punk is a subgenre of punk with pop sensibilities such as upbeat instrumentation, catchy choruses and cheerful atmosphere. The bands/artists that play this genre include Sum 41, Blink-182, MxPx, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Less Than Jake, New Found Glory, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Avril Lavigne. It was massively popular in the late 1990s and 2000s.
