Ambient Black Metal
Ambient black metal is a style that combines elements of black metal and ambient music. The electric guitar and/or synthesizer plays simple, ambient-based riffs through a black metal style, often accompanied by blasting drums and shrieking vocals. The Norwegian artist Varg Vikernes with his project Burzum is considered a pioneer of ambient black metal, having created and influenced much work in the ambient black metal field; this is particularly evident on the album Filosofem .
