February 8th, 2015, marks the 57th annual GRAMMY Awards airing live from LA’s Nokia Theatre on CBS. Hosted, as usual, by rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J, the list of performers couldn’t be more off the charts. Madonna is returning to the GRAMMYs stage to perform tracks off her upcoming LP Rebel Heart, while classic rock staples AC/DC will be shakin’ up the crowd all night long with songs from last year’s Rock or Bust.
Still fresh off their big GRAMMYs win, Daft Punk are enjoying a massive sales bump of their latest groove-inducing record, Random Access Memories, and it’s all thanks to their appearance on the highly-publicized music event. Music’s Biggest Night was also responsible for pushing Lorde’s “Royals”-spawning Pure Heroine debut higher up the charts, as well as Imagine Dragons’ Night Visions.
Last night at the Los Angeles Convention Center, some of the biggest names in music were on hand to perform covers of classic Beatles songs. The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles was an evening created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles appearing on the Ed Sullivan show, instantaneously breaking them into the North American music market. But who was there and who performed what?
Music’s Biggest Night took place at STAPLES Center in LA yesterday evening, and surprisingly enough, predicted winner Taylor Swift didn’t clean up after all. In fact, the artists who took home the most awards were quite a surprise. Best New Artist went to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who have definitely gone from “Thrift Shop” to the top of the charts in the past year and a half. Daft Punk got lucky when they took home Best Pop Duo / Group Performance, and Paul McCartney scored the Best Rock Song award for his song with Dave Grohl, “Cut Me Some Slack”.
In a commercial aired to promote the 56th annual GRAMMY awards, it has been confirmed that rap mogul Jay Z will be performing live at Music’s Biggest Night. With rumors that wife Beyonce would be performing at the show as well, people are speculating that the duo would potentially open up the awards show and do one of their famous songs together.
With just over a week to go until the 56th annual GRAMMY awards take place on Sunday, January 26th, the performers list for Music’s Biggest Night is jam-packed with amazing names like Daft Punk, Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr, and Taylor Swift. Even though the list itself is as swollen as can be, two more major pop stars might be added to the performers slot, thanks to a report from The Los Angeles Times.
There have been even more big names added to the 56th annual GRAMMY Awards performers list, and they’re getting us excited for Music’s Biggest Night. First up is the announcement of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr “coming together” at the awards show, in honor of the 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award they’re accepting for their work with the Beatles.
The 56th annual GRAMMY Awards will be taking place Sunday, January 26th, and the first round of performers have been officially confirmed. Standing out on the list of performers is electronic duo Daft Punk, who came back in 2013 for their massive album Random Access Memories, seeing as their last televised performance was at the 2008 GRAMMYs. It has recently been confirmed that Motown heavy-hitter Stevie Wonder will hit the stage with the pair, as well as Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. Music’s biggest night will also host Pink and fun. frontman Nate Ruess, who will be singing their smash hit “Just Give Me A Reason”, which was one of the biggest songs of the past year.
Coming to you live this Friday, December 6th, LL Cool J will be hosting the GRAMMYs Nominations Concert, airing at 10pm EST / 7pm PST on CBS. In recent years, the GRAMMYs have enlisted the help of the rapper-turned-actor to read out the nominations for the famous music awards show, complete with a concert featuring today’s biggest artists.
