Lady Gaga has released the official album artwork for her upcoming album, ARTPOP, dropping November 11th. Designed by legendary sculptor Jeff Koons, the record cover is a collision piece of pieces of art like The Birth Of Venus, plus one of Koons' notorious glass spheres. Right in the center is a scuplture of Gaga herself, by Koons, with her signature long hair with straight-across bangs, and of course, no clothing.
On Thursday, October 10th, the hit television show Glee will be saying goodbye to Cory Monteith and his character Finn Hudson in an emotional tribute episode. The trailer was released today, featuring the cast laying flowers, cars, and football memorabilia next to Hudson's locker, and showed a tearful Lea Michele, Monteith's on-and-offscreen girlfriend, showing her true reaction to the passing of the TV star.
Justin Bieber has been on somewhat of a musical hiatus recently, despite being in the tabloids for everything from being accused of harassing his neighbors to being carried up the Great Wall of China by his bodyguards. Despite his unusual antics, the Biebs definitely has new music in store for his Beliebers, confirmed on Twitter by the pop star himself.
Dropping one of the most highly-anticipated pop albums of 2013, and of her entire music career, Miley Cyrus' Bangerz is officially out on October 4th, but was available to stream today for fans (and haters) alike. Described as a collection of, well, "bangers", the 13-track LP has already spawned two massive singles, "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball", totally changing the safe musical direction that Cyrus was once following.
One of 2013's best albums of the year, Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience, was released back in March of this year and cemented Timberlake's status as an international pop sensation. When May rolled around, the singer/songwriter/actor revealed that he would be releasing a second half of the iconic record, entitled The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2. It was a unique move from the team behind Timberlake, releasing a second full-length album just shy of six months past the original album's due date, specifically because so many solid tracks were recorded and they didn't want to miss out on offering them to the fans.
Katy Perry is the latest artist to grace the cover of Billboard magazine, and in her interview with the popular music publication, she revealed her follow-up single to her massive hit and anthem of empowerment "Roar". She confused fans with her release of "Dark Horse" just over a week ago, featuring Three Six Mafia rapper Juicy J, but the mystical song is not the official second single off Prism, her upcoming third studio album.
Norwegian pop duo Ylvis are currently taking the Internet by storm with their new single "The Fox". The pair, who are brothers in real life, have been specializing in making comedy music since 2000, but have never hit international fame until now, with the release of the bizarre tune that has everybody baffled by the lyrics. The song starts off sounding like a nursery rhyme: "Dog goes woof / Cat goes meow / Bird goes tweet / And mouse goes squeak." However, it picks up in the chorus when the pair question just what sound the fox makes — it varies from Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding to Fraka-kaka-kaka-kaka-kow!
Jack Johnson's brand new album From Here To Now To You has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200. The album, Johnson's first in three years, sold 117,000 copies in its first week. This is the fourth album of Jack's to claim the number one spot, and third in a row.
16-year-old New Zealand native Lorde and her massive single "Royals" has taken the no.1 spot on the iTunes singles charts, knocking "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus to the number 2 slot. That's pretty impressive given that Miley seems to be the artist everyone is talking about.
Earlier in March, Miley Cyrus posted to her twitter account “My new music is gonna shut everyone up.” Well, that didn’t exactly happen for the Hannah Montana star. But despite the backlash she’s received for her outlandish dance moves, Miley seems to have found a silver lining with all this attention she’s been receiving. Her music has grown to be very popular. This summer, her song ‘We Can’t Stop’ resides in the Top 5 of the Hot 100 chart. Furthermore, her next song ‘Wrecking Ball’ became her first No. 1 song on the Hot 100 chart. She made quite a statement with her ‘Wrecking Ball' music video. Due to her shocking nudity and gestures during close-up shots, a lot of her critics have labeled her video as vulgar. It seems like this is all part of her plan to reach stardom as a music artist. It’s quite clear that the 20-year-old has successfully reinvented herself as an up-and-coming pop star. Whatever it is she’s doing, it’s definitely working in her favor.
