On the chill side of pop music there’s Philadelphia’s Work Drugs, whose ambient sounds can alleviate even the worst of your Monday back-to-work stress.

They call their genre Sedative Wave (or Smooth-Fi); it’s the perfect description for the gentle hypnotic music of Work Drugs, a collective from the banks of the Delaware that’s fronted by Thomas Crystal and Benjamin Louisiana.

Claiming their greatest influence to be another famed Pennsylvanian, Punxsutawney Phil (who is also a fine recording artist), Work Drugs also claim the diverse artistry of Madonna, Prince, Harold Melvin and Ariel Pink among their influences.

They say their music is especially fit for “dancing, boating, yachting, sexting, and living” (all things we planned to do today).
