New York City dance-punk originals The Rapture have set up their kissing booth in the middle of the dance floor, and everyone’s invited to shake what their mama gave them in “How Deep Is Your Love.”
After a five-year break, the Rapture return to the DFA imprint (founded by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, former Unkle member Tim Goldsworthy and Jonathan Galkin) for their third album In The Grace Of Your Love.
The album’s lead single “How Deep Is Your Love” lures you in with a rave-piano synth bringing to mind a vintage disco-house feeling wrapped around a dance-punk attitude that is most synonymous with the sounds from DFA. Most endearing are guitarist/vocalist Luke Jenner‘s pop hooks, which play like a house-diva against everything from a dance-rock template to deeper house cuts like in “Roller Coaster” and “Sail Away.”
The band is on tour now with a first stop in Boston. Check dates here and download a free MP3 of “How Deep Is Your Love.”
