You wouldn’t know from listening to their music they’ve been together just a few months but it’s true: the Northeast started making music in the spring of 2011.
Hailing from the City of Brotherly Love, the Northeast is a five man Americana outfit featuring singer and guitarist Matthew Bellman with Brian Maduskuie on guitar, steel and mandolin and Kirby Franklin sharing the string duties on banjo, guitar and uke.
With Jimish Mehta and Shawn League anchoring the rhythm section (on bass and percussion, respectively), the Nor’easters have already ready released a live acoustic single (“Toledo/Tacoma”) and a self-titled three-song EP.
The latter is where you’ll find our Free MP3 of the Day called “Ghosts.” Highlighting Bellman’s vocals from note one, “Ghosts” reminds us a lot of the country pop that came out of Nashville during the 70′s, underpinned with just enough straightforward simplicity to keep it real.
After a few listens we can’t help but wonder: how long will it take for this 6-month old band to become a household name? We’re aimed to help it happen by next spring!
