Just in time for summer, Jamaican dancehall superstar Shaggy (AKA “Mr. Boombastic”) is back with a new album!

Titled Summer in Kingston, the new album and lead single “Sugarcane” deliver more of the island dancehall flavor that won Shaggy fans worldwide on past hits like “Boombastic” and “It Wasn’t Me”. The album Hot Shot and its single “It Wasn’t Me” is still the highest selling dancehall record EVER, reaching Diamond status at over 10 million copies sold.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Shaggy moved to New York City when he was 18 and began taking singing lessons near his home in Flatbush, Brooklyn. At age 20 he joined the joined the United States Marine Corps as a Field Artillery Cannon Crewman with 5th Battalion 10th Marines and served during Operation Desert Storm during the Persian Gulf War. During his time with the Army, he perfected his baritone singing voice and upon his return to the US he dedicated himself to a career in music.

After a four years in the making, Summer in Kingston is finally here and is sure to be to the soundtrack to many a hot, sweaty dance party this summer.
