A song that brings to mind names like Newman, Simon and Leitch, we invite you to enjoy our Free MP3 of the Day from Patrick Joseph called “Slippery Shadow.”
“Dear little shadow don’t you drag me along/You’ve know you’ve had my hopes and dreams for so very long. You’re a sweet little specter but you won’t give me the time of day.”
So sings Patrick Joseph on “Slippery Shadow,” a potent two-minute stroll taken from his recent EP, Relics (a revisionist’s reading of cuts from his widely acclaimed debut album, Antiques.)
We’re completely charmed by what Joseph brings to the vocal booth, a tone as warmly sexy as Donovan Leitch. But that doesn’t mean he’s all style and no content. This little England meets New Orleans number is the work of songwriter who’s worthy of comparisons to the early work of Paul Simon and Randy Newman.
Visitors to Austin TX in March can see Joseph performing a showcase at SXSW. Prior to that look for him Friday, February 3rd at Room 5 in Los Angeles.
