Jordan Knight, "Let’s Go Higher"
Jun 19, 2011 6:00 AM by Staff
It’s hard to say whether Jordan Knight of New Kids On The Block would be glad to hear that his first single “Let’s Go Higher” from Unfinished sounds a bit like Lady Gaga or Chris Brown. He’d probably prefer Lady Gaga–and lucky for him, both are true.

The Roots – "Dear God 2.0"
Jun 16, 2011 5:35 PM by Kurt Wolff
They didn’t need the plug, but The Roots‘ nightly gig with Jimmy Fallon definitely hasn’t hurt their fan base. Their latest masterpiece, How I Got Over, shows off some new collabos (Joanna Newsom) as well longtime friends (John Legend). The hipster-friendly “Dear God 2.0″ is the standout track, which features Jim James of My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk.

Willie Nelson – "Man with the Blues"
Jun 14, 2011 5:59 PM by Kurt Wolff
You’d think by now Willie Nelson wouldn’t need to remind fans of his roots by naming his album Country Music, but that’s what he’s done on his superb 2010 release (his first for Rounder Records). Top to bottom it’s among his most enjoyable albums in ages.
Rilo Kiley – "Science Vs. Romance"
Jun 14, 2011 5:21 PM by Kurt Wolff
Long before Jenny Lewis‘ solo career, Rilo Kiley was a bright-eyed, hot new band on the Barsuk Records roster. “Science vs. Romance” was (and still is) the second song on their debut album Take Offs and Landings (2001)–a defining album to their future success.
Sahara Smith – “The Real Thing”
Jun 13, 2011 9:05 PM by Kurt Wolff
From the first few notes, you can tell that T-Bone Burnett was involved. Sahara Smith’s debut, Myth of the Heart, (shepherded by T-Bone and producer Emile Kelman) crosses the same country/blues border that Robert Plant & Alison Krauss straddled on their duet album, Raising Sand.
