A lost gem hidden away in our vast catalog of MP3′s, this remix of Lemonade‘s “Lifted” bears the unmistakable musical fingerprints of one of our favorites, Twin Shadow.
Twin Shadow is the alter ego of George Lewis, Jr., the Dominican-born, Florida-raised, Brooklyn-based musician and producer who just keeps getting spins on the MP3.com sound system.
Lewis’ first foray into music was just over ten years ago when he moved from Florida to Boston, the place where he joined Joseph Ciampini (of Hooray for Earth) and Zak Long (of Before Lazers) to form Mad Man Films. Over the course of the next few years, MMF self-released two highly acclaimed albums.
In 2006, Lewis decamped for Brooklyn where he adopted the name “Twin Shadow.” Four years later, he partnered with Grizzly Bear‘s Chris Taylor to record his five-star debut, Forget, on the 4AD imprint.

A few weeks back, we offered you a Free MP3 of the Day from CANT, the Chris Taylor side project that ended up being another Lewis/Taylor partnership.
Rounding out our trio of Lewis features is this remix of Lemonade’s “Lifted,” a tune his fellow Brooklynites released on their Pure Moods EP back in early 2010. As Amrit from Pitchfork said, “The trio’s tracks hit the dancefloor from all angles, filtering a worldly rhythmic sense and digital peripherals through their Brooklyn-based lens.” Add a dash of Twin Shadow and it’s all that much better.
