Illusion of Light are an electro-pop trio out of Leipzig, Germany who wear black and white outfits with matching ties mongrammed with their IOL logo. We like that kind of fashion sense from our synth bands.
Regular peformers on the Euro nightclub circuit, Illusion of Light are vocalist, songwriter and “studiotechnik” Marco, synth master Peter “Richi” and singer and lyricist Julia.
The trio have been turning out albums since 2002, when they dropped their first long-player, No Promise. Ten years and ten albums later, they released their most recent work, Skylight, in January of this year.
That’s where you’ll find the blinding dancefloor frenzy of “Searching,” a sort of Euro-disco meets Donna Summer without the fluff. We think they sound like the marriage of Gary Numan (from his best years), early Kraftwerk and the best of Martin Rushent’s productions.
And we like the way that “Searching” sinks into our frontal lobe and hypnotizes us like a night at the discoteque.
