Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, “Paris (Ooh La La)”

In just five years, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals have gone from a local Vermont band to one of the fastest rising rock bands around, and with a listen to “Paris (Ooh La La),” the opening track to their new self-titled album, one can easily see why.

Ms. Potter’s voice is impressive – equal parts power and pitch – and she exudes attitude.  ”If I was a man, I’d make my move/If I was a blade I’d shave you smooth” she sings to the object of her affection.  The track has a tough bluesy sound to it, with nice interplay between the dual guitars and a propulsive rhythm from drummer Matt Burr.

Grace Potter & the Nocturnals‘ new album has been garnering a lot of attention for the band.  Produced by super-producer Mark Batson (who has done work for the likes of Jay-Z, Snoop Dog, Beyoncé and Alicia Keys), Grace Potter & the Nocturnals captures all the band’s groove, strut and swing.
