Dub Division are a Russian crew of rock stars who ought to be in pictures.
Well, maybe not in pictures (‘cuz they ain’t that pretty) but they definitely should be making music for pictures.
Take, for example, the weirdly quirky groove of “Dog Masks,” a tune that inflicts upon its listeners visions of everything from the ‘ear’ scene of Reservoir Dogs to a night in the back of the Knitting Factory, trying to figure out the relationship between Henry Mancini and John Zorn. A great keyboard part (like “Eminence Front” gone groovy) and big fat saxophones, the only way they should.
Sneaky, sinister and funky, all at the same time.
