Along with the likes of Lil Kim and Foxy Brown, Da Brat was one of the first women to establish the role of the female MC in the male-dominated world of hip-hop. Now she’s back at it, her spitfire delivery still very much intact, with the new single “Get It, Get It.”
In 1994, Da Brat became the first female rapper to go platinum, with her stellar debut, Funkdafied. On the album, she teamed up with legendary producer Jermaine Dupri and the results were dynamite tracks like “Fa All Y’all” and “Funkdafied.”
Now the two have gotten together again on Da Brat‘s upcoming mixtape Life After Death, and if “Get It, Get It” is any indicator, we have every reason to believe it’s another classic in the making.
