Back in January, the Academy of Country Music announced it’s nominees for this year’s awards ceremony. The wait to find out who will actually win those awards is almost over, as this weekend marks the 47th annual ACM awards ceremony. To get you ready for the awards show, we’ve put together a list of the nominees and a playlist of some of our favorite country music from the MP3.com database!
Lollapalooza organizers have just made a limited number of “early bird” three day passes available online now, as well as several other ticket packages. The internet has been rife with speculation over this year’s lineup, and some of the rumors have been amazing. One alleged “leak” claimed that the headliners would include Beck, Metallica, Beyonce, the Killers, Sonic Youth, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The RCRD LBL Essentials series turns 20 today! To celebrate this milestone, we’re bringing you a playlist stacked with our favorite artists!

Check out who we’re picking as our top bets to win Album of the Year, plus grab a free download of Bon Iver‘s single “Calgary”!
Another British label to be featured in our Label of the Week series is Oxfordshire based Big Scary Monsters. Started by Kevin Douch when he was in school, the label has built itself a solid reputation of releasing music by a very diverse range of artists that often don’t quite seem to slot into any obvious scene or genre.
We know a theme when we see one, a pair of “bird” bands, flocking together for your downloading pleasure (though there’s little more than their names to put them in the same category).
Ah, music. It’s what gets us up in the morning and keeps us going all year long. Since our last Spotlight on holiday music we’ve added some new songs to the site, a handful of which our entire staff has highlighted in their “best-of” features. And, to fuel our lists even further, I’ve assembled my own favorite of–what else–free MP3s.
