Starphaser is the alias of Felipe Fortes, a singer-songwriter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His sound is heavily influenced by Radiohead and Sigur Ros, as well as tons of indie acts such as Death Cab for Cutie.

While playing in several underground rock bands, felipe wrote songs and recorded them in his computer. A lot of his work never saw daylight in his bands, so he decided to gather some of his compositions into an lo-fi recorded album (that he called bi.ro, and consisted mainly of acoustic guitar based tunes) and put in the internet for people to listen to. Later on, he also put up 2 more eps, one from recent songs and another one where he dug up songs from 5 to 7 years ago.

Eventually, a gig appeared, and felipe called his cousin rafael (who also played with him in his first band, called "the crunch") to play the bass and long time friend peter (who played with fortes in kmph) to play the drums.

Starphaser, thus, became a real band.

Felipe is now working in new songs, as well as with his main project DJ6.
