L'Orchidée d'Hawaï, from Chambéry, Rhône-Alpes, France, consists of Charles Suave (vocals, keyboards, guitar), DaVinci Grasselli (vocals, guitar), Fläz Tülenz (bass), and Lucien Tapageur (drums and percussion).
L'Orchidée d'Hawaï play a mixture of surf and traditional European music. They like all traditionnal music, be it Polish, Greek, Italian, Mexican or Eleki (60's japanese surf rock)... Their second album, "Nobody Beats Me" is out since May 2008, as a follow up to their first, "Gold" released in 2006.
It will be followed shortly by a couple of 7"s, one is already out on K Records, and features L'Orchidée d'Hawaï backing up the one and only Angelo Spencer !
In April 2009, two 7"s will be released by the french garage label, Larsen Records, entitled "Eleki, Volumes 1 & 2", featuring five instrumentals: covers with "Black Sand Beach" (Yuzo Kayama), "Yukino Watari Dori" (Yoshio Tabata) and originals "Bangkok 1997", "Kyoto Ga" and "Mark Hunt".
The band is currently setting up tours which should include Germany and Poland along with the polish band Mitch & Mitch, and a trip back to the US in the fall. They can be found online at the non-very-active www.orchidee-hawai.com and easier at www.myspace.com/hawaiorchid. Read more on Last.fm.
