After high school graduation Brian Eichelberger hit the road by playing worship events across the country, but he soon realized worship is intended to be an expression rooted in a particular time and place. Fortunately for Mars Hill Church Seattle, the E-pop team is here to stay.
Eichelberger (Barcelona) is joined by Thaddeaus Wight on bass, Jordan Butcher on drums, Josh Myers (The Fire Theft, Jeremy Enigk) on piano and Zach Hodges (Telecast, Jeremy Camp) on organ, samples, and guitar. Eichelberger, Myers and Hodges are producers and studio gurus by trade, while Wight is a bass and guitar instructor. There is definitely no shortage in song craft expertise.
Though Eichelberger says he can’t vouch for the collective influences of the band, he sites what he calls “approachable but interesting” groups such as local Seattle darlings Death Cab for Cutie, along with Ben Folds, Lovedrug, Sufjan Stevens and MuteMath. The resulting music is tunes challenging in their arrangements, with a stuck-in-your-head accessibility.
