Whirlaway formed in Florida in 1999. Immediately, the quartet was signed by Spy-Fi Records to release their debut EP, A Soundstream Broadcast. 2000 began with the release of the single 'Distance', which whetted fans appetites for the release of the Whirlaway's sophomore effort, Letting Go. The band's dream pop sound continued to win over new fans and received radio airplay despite the seven-plus minute length of some of the songs.
After touring to support Letting Go, Whirlaway worked on the followup, Pompano, which was released in 2004.
