Tok Rukoo is a 6-piece Minsk based band. In autumn of 2006 the idea to form an indie-rock band came to Vasiliy Maronau, the leader and the only member of post-rock project "Moya". He wanted to realize himself in a standard-sized band. The next person to appear in the band was the vocalist Vadim Kheifets, who noticed the searching-for-musicians-advert in a local music paper.Read More...
The guys began working together using the Internet, not even trying to meet in real life. Soon the project is joined by Sergey Andronov on bass and Vadim Mikhalenok on drums. The result of their cooperation appears on the demo-recording "Tok Rukoo plays Tok Rukoo", which contained 7 home-made tracks and the "New Born" Muse cover performed on piano. The demo can be characterized as mysterious and "out of this world".
The members of the band met in winter of 2007 and began rehearsing for the future gigs. Because of constant changes of musicians the band couldn't manage to record for a long time, but they still play gigs at various clubs. Tok Rukoo is finally shaped at the end of 2009 when they record their first single "The Waves".
As for the genres, the band is playing a mix of lively indie-rock and post-punk revival and pays attention to the melodic patterns of its songs. The second single from the band’s coming LP is going to be released in September 2010.
