Biography

A significant player in the early 21st century's post-hardcore scene, Thursday formed in 1997 in New Brunswick, NJ. Led by vocalist Geoff Rickly, the band's initial lineup also included bassist tim payne, drummer Tucker Rule, and guitarists Steve Pedulla and Tom Keeley. After issuing their debut, 1999's Waiting for the Sun, through the New York-based indie label Eyeball Records, the band signed to Chicago's influential Victory label for 2001's Full Collapse. Tours alongside BoySetsFire and Sparta helped support the album, which cracked the Billboard 200 at number 178. Thursday's frequent gigging and furious passion fueled a grassroots response, and by 2002, the band was on the main stage of the Warped Tour and enjoying MTV support for the single "Understanding in a Car Crash."

    Lyrics
Splintered piece of glass falls, in the seat, gets caught
These broken windows, open locks, reminders of the youth we lost
In trying so hard to look away from you
We followed white lines to the sunset
Crash my car everyday the same way

    Lyrics
Let's call this the quiet city
Where screams are felt as a wave of stoplights
Drive through the streets as gunshots punctuate the night
The sides we take divide us from our faith
And the morning dove gets caught in the telephone wire
    Cross Out The Eyes - (4:08)  -  17,932 plays
  3.
    Lyrics
In this blackout, inertia will hold our thoughts
And the exit sign offers no light to see by
Can we cast our shadows alone in the dark?
    I can't see without you
When the world is crashing down
    A Hole In The World - (3:27)  -  15,945 plays
  4.
    Lyrics
Standing on the edge of the Palisades' Cliffs
In the shadow of the skyline very far away
Like a lightning rod that couldn’t pull the storm from me
I was 5 years old, my best friend's older brother died
    He fell from these cliffs
    War All The Time - (4:32)  -  17,748 plays
  5.
    Lyrics
This is what you see when you look in my direction
Incandescent corsets draw eyes tight like wires
This is how it feels calling out but no one even hears
The signals that we send over the air, over the air
Over the air, over the air
