Originally formed in 1981 by Scott Lucas and the late Brian Keys The Dits are a free improvisational group exploring the innate music of the mind. Early work was largely improvised to multi-track tape machines. In the summer of 2000 The Dits re-emerged as a trio of : Scott Lucas, Matt Seniff and Pink Bob: They produced 18 double CDs of studio and live concert recordings ending in the late summer of 2002. The music was available on the original MP3.com for free downloading and streaming. In 2010 it was realized that The Dits had no music available online for the public. So Scott Lucas and Matt Seniff decided to rectify this sad situation by beginning the remastering of the 2000-2002 material and placing it online at Bandcamp.com. While they were at it they decided to get together and create new material. Dan Meyer (former bassist for Von Frickle) was added to form a new trio to record in the Mattcave studio. New technology has been added so the sound quality is greatly improved, but the idea is the same and free improvisation is still the name of the game. The new lineup has a power and organic feel that is a change from the past. Using 24/96 multi-track recording rather than the previous mini-disc format makes the material even more compelling. They hope to achieve new heights in free improvisational elegance.
