2) Smut is the name of the combined efforts of electronic music producers Tech Itch and Sam XL from Pure Filth, Los Angeles. Together their most notable track to date was 'Badman Place', a dubstep track which first appeared as an exclusive on Skreams 'Watch the Ride' dubstep mix tape.
3) Smut was a Riot Grrrl/Grunge band formed in 1990. Originally a 4 piece band consisting of Dawn Miller on guitar, Estelle Thielen on drums and Germain Walseth filling out the rhythm section on bass, along with Germaine Gemberling handling the main vocal duties. With this lineup, the band released the 7" "Wall of Hate" on the famed Mpls. punk label, Profane Existence Records. The band then signed with Spanish Fly and recorded another 7", "Goodness/No Grief", helping to get the band on the road prior to the release of their debut full-length release, "Blood, Smut & Tears". Spanish Fly released this CD in January of 1995. Shortly there after, vocalist Germaine Gemberling got married and decided to call it quits.
After some regrouping and writing some new material, the band hit the road, in support of Blood, Smut & Tears. The band still performed most of the songs on the record, with Dawn and Estelle taking on vocal duties.
The extensive touring schedule helped solidify this newly discovered trio and they began working on their follow-up to "Blood, Smut and Tears". They went into AmRep Studios again with Tim Mac, like Babes in Toyland among others, and proceeded to hammer out 11 songs for the album "Secret Center".
