SilverlagE on zilch records is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University Arts Department with a BFA in Theatre Performance.
SilverlagE's love for Theatre and the electronics has eagerly moved their work in the performance art direction.
SilverlagE on Vimeo..Primarily SilverlagE uses video recordings tweaked out by the recorder being used or cheap old PC and Mac software. All visuals were originally recorded by SilverlagE. As far as audio goes SilverlagE primarily uses feedback, field recordings, sounds from the mouth and the body and the surroundings near by as the basis for the sounds and music created.
SilverlagE keeps a sitar, guitar, congos, omnichord and many other electronic instruments and has no idea how to play any of them, really. Their goal is to never take instrument lessons, except with the sitar but finding someone to teach is harder than one could imagine. SL prefers to learn the instruments from scratch, kinda like a caveman. Currently, SL manipulates feedback beetween anything, with audio and video. The genres for their work will always change and grow because the more familiar they become with the instruments the better they will be at using them.
They first started collaging/mixing music and video in 1989 with a project called "Absent Saturday", segments are available for viewing on the far right of the current artist page which is currently being viewed. They have recently been edited down to scenes/segments from the original VHS.
The second video was created circa 1993 called "Man Spaced Exploration Loop". The only copy is currently in the possesion of Derek Lotek, a long time collaborator and massive influence of SL's audio work. Next, silverlage started creating original videos.
In 2005 they embarked on an original noise/sound/visual project titled "Separation Anxiety Continuum". Silverlage's newest piece is Amalgama with original visual samples and music/noise/sound. There were two releases of AmalGama. The first release is numbered by silverlage on each disc, only 11 discs were created. The new disc shows slight changes and is available. Other than a few small projects, silverlage is currently working on manipulating electronic components into creating feedback recordings, which they tag as Machinemisuse, non instruments, noise tech and lv0i53, They are constantly creating organic based visuals to fashion a marriage to the sounds created. The goal is for the viewer to convince him/herself that the visuals and the sound are one, when in fact they were both created at completely different times with completely different equipment. Our mind is constantly trying to match sound and visuals to create a structure, which is logic, which makes us feel more comfortable.
Silverlage thanks the Minds Eye series for the inspiration to continue their original visual interest that began to form in the 80's. Even though silverlage does not currently create animation, their favorite influence is Yoichiro Kawaguchi. Koyaanisqatsi (1982), is a key influence that helped silverlage start to organize, expand and use old & new ideas. All of these influences remind us that there is no right way to create. The experience of creating is just as important as the experience of watching. listening and being turned on to the 'piece'. “We do not create a piece for the entertainment of others, more for the experience to enjoy the marriage of sound and visual, to turn on the audience and to collaborate between us and the viewer/listener creating moods and surroundings,”

Silverlage would like to maintain that they are not one person but an umbrella, a hub for visual and sound artists.
S: (n) silver, Ag, atomic number 47 (a soft white precious univalent metallic element having the highest electrical and thermal conductivity of any metal; occurs in argentite and in free form; used in coins and jewelry and tableware and photography)
Silver is not a true color.
Silver is the metallic shade resembling gray, closest to that of polished silver.
Some things cannot be duplicated virtually.
The visual sensation usually associated with the metal silver is its metallic shine. This cannot be reproduced by a simple solid color, because the shiny effect is due to the material's brightness varying with the surface angle to the light source. In addition, there is no mechanism for showing metallic or fluorescent colors on a computer. Consequently in art one would normally use a metallic paint that glitters like real silver.
The name Argentina comes from the latin “argentum” which means “silver”.

Lage denotes the 'position' of an object in a district or landscape, and therefore coresponds most closely to 'situation'
"The history of electricity goes back more than two thousand years, to the time the Ancient Greeks discovered that rubbing fur on amber caused an attraction between the two. By the 17th century, many electricity-related discoveries had been made, such as the invention of an early electrostatic generator, the differentiation between positive and negative currents, and the classification of materials as conductors or insulators. In the year 1600, English physician William Gilbert conned the term electric, from the Greek elektron, to identify the force that certain substances exert when rubbed against each other."
