The artists of Signal to Noise Ratio came up with an idea to create their own musical style they refer to as "uncramped music". The band involves three people: Marysia Bialota (synths, electric organ, piano), Przemek Pilacinski (guitar, programming, vocal) and Adam "Izaak" Wasaznik (drums, vocal).

The songs of SNR are usually characterised by latitude of form varying from one concert to another and include a great number of improvised passages. While listening to the compositions of the group, one can easily find the traces of psychedelic ambience and (Polish, Arabian, Indian) ethnic music. The band is constantly looking for unconventional music solutions and original style resonating with traditional coarse rock of the turn of the 1960s and 1970s as well as with modern electronic music. SNR often collaborates with guest musicians; live performances and studio recordings feature female vocals and variety of instruments such as viola, flute, oboe or goblet drum.
The band was formed in 2003 in Warsaw, Poland. In the beggining the line up included two guitars, bass guitar, synthesizer, drums and vocals. In December 2003 they recorded a demo album.
On the second demo (may 2004) one of the guitars was replaced by the flute. The demo was positively reviewed by most of progressive rock magazines around the world.
After many line-up changes, in January 2006 SNR constituted a trio (keyboards, guitar/programming/vocals, drums/vocals). Since then more electronics (sequencers, synth basses) have appeared. In December 2006 the band recorded an EP called Stan nieustalony. The material from both Stan nieustalony EP and Demo II was released in 2008 as Stan nieustalony LP by MALS progressive rock label.
The group is also trying to transcend strictly musical acts - the concerts are enchanced by visuals, the band also performs their own soundtrack for Victor Sjöström's silent movie The Phantom Chariot.
Currently the band is recording a full-length album, that will be called Mitologia epoki maszyn.
