Storytelling as Bruce Springsteen, thoughtful as Bob Dylan, rough as Pearl Jam, melancholic as Nirvana, melodic as Oasis, Crowded House or Coldplay, hymn-like as Bon Jovi: The music of SELF PORTRAIT GALLERY is as versatile as the influences of lead-singer Joey Skymo.Read More...
Joey founded the singer-songwriter project with excursions to other genres in 2007 after being absent from the active music business and working behind the scenes for more then ten years.
Finally Joey picked the guitar up again and re-recorded a bunch of older tunes he wrote in the 1990s and soon began writing new material which lead to the production of the album “Every Second Changes - Demos 2007-2012". The album featured the critically acclaimed singles “Janie (Come Back Home)" and “Reaching Paradise Gets Tough”.
In 2012 the acoustic single “No Tomorrow” was released for digital download. While working on the longplayer with the same title (due to release in 2014) Joey decided to record the 50 plus song SELF PORTRAIT GALLERY catalogue again under the album title “Analogue Tunes” in chronological order as acoustic versions on a 4 track Tascam Portastudio and release about two songs per week on the SELF PORTRAIT GALLERY Reverbnation-site for streaming as well as on the Bandcamp-site for download starting in September 2013.
In addition to that lo-fi approach Joey is currently working on a second acoustic album with the working title "Maybe This Is The Time (The Acoustic Album)" due to release in 2014.
