Alternative rock musician Rob McColley grew up in Champaign, IL. The thriving alternative-pop/rock environment of Wilco and artists on the Parasol label like Doleful Lions lent McColley a very eclectic approach to music, as did being raised by a record collector and music critic. He issued his first album, Dynamite - Single (a/k/a A Boy Named Laurie) in March 2003 on the Legal Records imprint while working as a bartender at a Champaign live music club.
