R.O.E. (Rising Over Envy), got his name because that is what he plans to do, rise above the envious. Born and bred on the westside of Chicago, R.O.E. grew up in a family filled with music lovers. Being around such a setting, he developed a love for creative writing and began writing poetry at a young age. His advanced skill level led him to win many poetry competitions.

Entering into his freshmen year of high school, R.O.E. was introduced to hip hop by a few of his classmates. Falling in love with what he heard, R.O.E. began to take his poetic roots and transform them into hip hop lyrics. As time progressed, he began to take music seriously and started recording routinely.
Performing at countless events across the country, R.O.E. built a buzz for himself through the new wave of music blog outlets releasing singles that include: Somethin’ New, Long Shot, and The Gloves (No Quit) which features Chris Mathien. In 2011, R.O.E. released his first official EP entitled, A Backpacker Named R.O.E.
With his unique sound of hip hop mixed in with soul, R.O.E. can ultimately be the force that pushes through and changes the game. While his music can relate to anyone because it speaks on everyday subject matter, his style and sound are in a space that is a wide open field to explore.
