Povilas Girdenis (b. 1969 ) is song-writer and singer from Lithuania. He started writing songs being a schoolboy. Povilas Girdenis firstly walked on scene being the member of republican pioneers palace songs and dances folk ensemble, where sang in chorus, later – played reed-pipe. While singing he admired stage music, later – that time the most horrible gerne – rock. As this music genre is related with guitar, so the reed-pipe he changed to this instrument. After foundation of school poprock band, started his way through various rock‘n‘roll bands.

In 2000 he turned to singing poetry. Personally P. Girdenis describes singing poetry in two ways: in proper, singing poetry „is the way of reading poetry. Poesy is not read, but sang with music instruments approvingly. I do not consider this „reading“ as anomaly, because from old days the symbol of poesy - lyre“. In a broad sence it is perceptible as „alternative vocal – instrumental music genre“.

P. Girdenis has created lot of songs by himself writen words, but he does not avoid as he says „to sing a poesy which is so pleasing, that It would be a sin not to spread it with others“.
